Once in our life we commit mistakes. Its either big or small but for every mistake that we do there are always life lessons that it leaves. Those life lessons can be part our stepping stones to success and that is why is important learning from our mistakes. Arianna Hu      ngton once said, “we need to accept that we won’t always make the right decisions, that we’ll screw up royally sometimes—understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success.”

Nobody is perfect. Our faults are a sign that we did our best and failed yet we can still stand up. Trying is better than doing nothing at all. Even though we know our plans have a low rate of success we still tried. No one died from doing it. The next time we create a plan again we can make it better than the last one. No more loopholes and have 100% rate of success.

Learning from our mistakes is how we show that we regret and acknowledge it. Admitting is not an act of weakness, but rather it shows maturity and bravery. So how can we learn from our mistakes?

1. Review Errors

To improve ourselves by reviewing those errors. Like after we see our exam results, we look if there are any errors and review them. We analyze them.

Life is similar in taking exams. There are questions that we know and don’t. There are a few questions that we took risks in picking the right answer. At the end of the exam day, or in real life, there are errors. The only thing that we can do about it is once we’re done reviewing it is to learn from it and avoid making the same mistakes.

2. Don’t Make The Same Mistake Twice

How can we learn from it when we’re going to do it again? There’s a saying that, “mistakes are meant for learning, not for repeating.” Once we made the same mistake twice we just avoided the fact that we made a mistake. It’s like showing to others that we’re not sorry for what we did. Not even the slightest guilt. Let’s practice owning our mistakes and never do it again.

3. Admit To Our Mistakes

There’s no need to protect our ego from our mistake. No matter how big or small it is we don’t have to hide it. People may get mad at us and it’s understandable. But the more we don’t admit it to ourselves or to anyone close to us, the more it burdens us. Once we allow ourselves to own our mistakes, that’s just when we can start learning from it.

4. Know The Consequences

Of course, for every mistake there is a consequence. That’s how we re ect on our fault. We may feel regret or hurt, but that’s how life is. We just have to face the consequences no matter how much we suffer from it.

5. Create A Plan

Once we acknowledge of all these, create a new plan. If it failed again, it’s ne. Create another until you nally have a foolproof plan. Mistakes are a part of life, its our stepping stone to reach our dreams. And being screwedup doesn’t mean it’s the end of the line. It’s a chance to change what’s wrong. To see a different view in life.

Don’t dwell too much on what’s wrong, instead be creative. Find better ways. Be resourceful. And also when we made mistakes, don’t blame ourselves too much. Yes, it is our fault, but are we going to stop because of it? Of course not! We will still continue on living, this time we’re choosing the right decisions. Life just pauses when made mistake, then it will play again.
